The terminology used in describing baby cribs can be confusing. Manufacturers don’t make it any easier either and often give their own name to a more generic term. What follows is a concise definition of the different types of baby cribs that are available.
The main difference between a bassinet and a cradle is that a bassinet is placed in a stand and is stationary. For more help visit to: www.create-super-baby.com. A cradle is usually designed so that it can be rocked back and forth. Many parents will choose to use either one of these after the birth of the child as these have low sides and are very easy and convenient to use. When the baby reaches 3 or 4 months of age it’s time for other sleeping arrangements.
Sometimes referred to as a conventional baby crib, this type usually comes with single or double drop sides making it easy to put in and take out a small baby. As this has drop sides there’s no need to adjust mattress height. The Jenny Lind is a good example of this type of crib. A standard baby crib is usually quite cheap to buy and will serve your baby until about the age of two.
This sort has become quite fashionable in recent years. Many parents say that this type uses less space than a traditional one. These types of cribs can be rather expensive.
Sometimes referred to as a bonnet crib, this is for those who like a ‘fairytale’ or ‘princess’ look. The canopy serves no real purpose except for ‘presentation’. Again, they are more expensive than traditional models.
There are two types: 3-in-1 and lifetime. The 3-1-in baby crib can be converted from crib, to toddler bed, to day bed. These convert by simply removing one side of the crib. Some brands come with optional straight rails that can be used on the toddler bed – they help in preventing the baby from rolling out. Some 3-in-1 models also come with storage drawers. Lifetime cribs can also be converted to full size beds, which mean a child can use it until their early teens. This type does cost more but they can save money in the long run.
These are second hand cribs that have been used by another baby. Whilst it may seem a good idea to use or buy one of these, the advice from most safety organizations is never to buy a used crib. For more detail go to: www.babies-tips.com.Ones that were made a number of years ago may not have the safety features that are required today. If you do buy a used baby crib, use the following guidelines.

Babies today are born into a world where they will be bombarded with chemicals which they are ill equipped to deal with. In fact, the process starts before birth, with the mother’s diet likely to be laced with a chemical concoction the human immune system is not fully designed to handle. Add to that the polluted air she breathes and water she drinks, and the deadly drugs she may be taking, that innocent baby is brought into a world that is immediately hostile to their health. However, there is much a parent can do to minimize the effect of that chemical invasion, and one of those is to use organic baby care wherever possible.
What is Organic Baby Care?
There is no globally accepted definition of organic, although some countries have tried to establish enforceable standards. For simplicity, let us say that organic products should not have been grown or developed with the use of pesticides, herbicides, or artificial fertilizers, and have not been genetically modified in any way.
Organic baby care, then, is to bring up a baby using as many organically grown products as possible. Most parents would want to extend that to include as many eco-friendly products as well. So, what sort of “organic” products can play a part in your baby’s development.
Organic Baby Food
Ideally, feeding your baby organic foods should start while she is still in the womb. What the baby’s mother eats and drinks, breathes and has injected into her affect the quality of the baby’s sustenance before birth, and in the breast milk after birth. A mother who lives on organic food as far as possible will get her baby off to a good start.
Once the baby comes off breast milk to solids, it is important to keep as much control over her food as possible. It is very easy to avoid processed and canned food, whose origins you know little about, and may contain contaminants not only in the food itself but the lining of the can. Wherever possible use organic foods and chemical free juices and water in order to give the baby a good start in life so far as nourishment goes. If possible, follow the advice of a holistically trained professional nutritionist to find the right balance of food.
Organic Bedding & Clothing
Many parents these days seek out what they call organic bedding. It may be very difficult to find, but baby bedding does exist that has been made from natural fibers that have been organically grown. However, do look for some genuine indication that the cotton or wool is organic. An item that is just labeled 100% cotton, without any organic certification, is unlikely to be organic but chemically laden. The same applies to baby clothes.
Organic Baby Accessories
There are many baby accessories that can be eco-friendly or even organic. Organic baby wipes and diapers are now quite easily available, and they are items that parents need every day for their baby. Using organic bio-degradable diapers can be a great benefit to the environment compared to using the old style disposables. Many children’s toys are made of natural materials rather than plastics, and even organic teethers, made from 100% cotton, can be found if you search hard enough.
While it may not be possible in this day and age to bring up a completely organic baby, you do at least have the chance to minimize the chemical intake of your children. With trends as they are, more products will be developed as time passes, making your task that much easier.

Colic is a really annoying problem for a baby to have. Both of my children suffered with colic as babies, and it was around the time when not many people believed that colic existed! (it was thought it was just a bad case of wind!)
Some doctors and health professionals had mixed feelings on the whole colic subject.
I can tell you now that colic can be awful for everyone. Your poor baby suffers from terrible symptoms, and poor Mum and Dad are nearly driven mad by their baby’s constant crying! It can cause sleepless nights and tension in the household. You may start to dread a certain time of the day or evening because you know that’s when the crying will start.
If your baby’s crying is high pitched, accompanied by a fever or your baby seems floppy or in any way unwell, then seek medical attention straight the way.
So let’s look at some symptoms of baby colic
Your baby’s crying may last for several hours.
Your baby’s crying normally starts at around the same time. Maybe afternoon to early evening time (sometimes later)
When you pick up your baby she may stop crying. Some positions you hold her in will make the crying stop, others can make her worse.
She may bring her legs into her tummy, and then stretch them back out again.
Your baby may clench her hands.
Your baby may be very fussy with her foods, or just after a feed.
She may pass a lot of wind.
Your baby may struggle to get to sleep, and if she does nod off, she make keep waking.
So do you think your baby has colic? It’s always best to get her checked over by your health professional, and if it does turn out to be colic, there are ways to get the problem under control.
The hardest thing about colic is finding a remedy that works for your baby. If you’re armed with enough knowledge, you have a good chance of helping to relieve this tiresome problem!
I had different ways to calm the colic with my babies. What worked for Joe, didn’t work for Lauren!
For Joe I would run him a nice warm bath, the water soon calmed the crying and ten minutes later he would be fast asleep in his chair. For Lauren I would put her in her pram, and dance around with it to some music. Maybe it was the vibration through the pram, (maybe it was just Mum looking silly!) but after a few minutes she would be happily nodding off.
Infacol is a great help, and can be purchased from your local chemist. These are drops that you give to your baby just before a feed, in theory it works by binding together the gas in baby’s tummy, and making it easier to pass.

Then as an opening ice breaker each guest on folds their diaper. One guest will have something “dirty” inside like a dot of peanut butter or mustard. The guest with the dirty diaper then wins a door prize.
Another baby shower game that is great fun is to guess how big the mom is. In this game each baby shower guest estimates how many toilet paper squares it will take to go around the moms’ belly. The guest with the closest guess wins a prize.
Just in case your mother to be is not a game loving kind of gal you can hold a decorate the baby room party. For more detail go to: www.babies-tips.com.Usually the bedding that you choose is going to have a big impact on the rest of the room and its decor. So, it is important that you know how to pick out the best baby boy bedding. Here are five important considerations that you will want to remember when you are picking out the perfect bedding for your baby boy.
The first thing that you will want to keep in mind when it comes to the baby boy bedding you want in the baby bedroom is the comfort of the bedding. You want to make sure that your baby boy is going to be comfortable so he can sleep. Of course while you already know what it takes to make you comfortable when you sleep, you’ll find that it’s quite a bit harder to pick out bedding that is going to be comfortable for your baby boy. To keep him comfortable, you’ll want to start out with a great mattress that is going to be very comfortable without being too soft. Also, you’ll want to make sure that the baby boy sheets that you choose are very soft as well as durable. They need to be soft to protect the baby’s skin, but they need to be durable because you’ll probably be washing them on a regular basis. So, take your baby’s comfort into consideration when you are trying to choose the baby boy bedding.
Another very important consideration that you want to keep in mind is whether or not the bedding is age appropriate. For more help visit to: www.create-super-baby.com. When you are choosing for your little unborn baby boy, you are going to want to make sure that you go with something that you like, since your baby boy probably won’t really care that much about the baby bedroom decor. However, once he gets a bit older, remember that colors are going to be important to your developing baby. So, make sure that you go with a decor in the baby room that is going to be nice and colorful. There are a variety of great options out there when it comes to baby boy bedding, and you’ll be sure to come up with the best option for your baby boy’s nursery.
Find out about the washing and care of the baby bedding before you purchase it as well. Take the time to read the instructions. You will want to make sure that you can wash it, because there are many accidents that can happen when you have a baby boy, from a leaky diaper to an upset tummy. Usually you’ll find that most bedding is able to be washed in cold water and can be dried on low. Of course there are more than the sheets to worry about as well when it comes to your baby boy bedding. If you have a comforter and down pillow that you need to clean, make sure that you use a nice dirt or dust cover on it. Make sure that you air them out as often as you can and shake them out so that they maintain their fluffiness. Spots can be cleaned up with a damp rag if there is a need for this to occur.
Of course choosing a beautiful style is also an important consideration when it comes to baby boy bedding. There are so many different baby boy styles that you can choose from today that it’s really hard to choose just one style. There are lovely bedding sets that have cowboys on them, some with sports cars, others with fishing decor, and even others that have fire trucks on them. Whatever the style that you choose, remember that the theme is going to have to be carried throughout the room, so make sure that this is an option before you make up your mind.
Last of all, it’s important that you work to find the best possible price on baby boy bedding as well. Sure, you want it to look amazing, but you’ll also want to find the best possible price on the bedding that you purchase for your little boy. There are going to be many expenses as you raise a baby, so don’t spend all your savings on the bedding alone. If you take some time to compare prices, you’ll find that there are some great deals to be found if you keep looking.

Nobody likes getting shots when they go to the doctor. But as a parent, it can be even more difficult when it’s time for your baby to receive one. Sometimes a baby will have a mild reaction to a vaccination, and might have trouble sleeping as a result. You can help decrease your baby’s discomfort by making sure he’s comfortable and well-rested when visiting the doctor’s office and you can use home treatments to help relieve some of the more common minor reactions to vaccinations.
If your child develops a slight fever, try giving him acetaminophen (Tylenol) or ibuprofen (Motrin or Advil). This can help reduce a fever and alleviate any pain felt in the location of the shot. Remember to never give aspirin to your baby because of the risk of Reye’s Syndrome. The injection site might also become red and swollen. A cool compress or ice pack applied to the site for approximately 10 to 20 minutes can also provide relief. A mild skin rash might develop 7 to 14 days following the injection, particularly with the chickenpox or measles, mumps and rubella (MMR) vaccine. Though this type of rash can last for several days, it usually disappears on its own without treatment.
You might find your baby is more fretful and restless and refuse to eat following a vaccination. If you can keep the commotion down at home, and cuddle and hold your child when he needs it, it will help him feel more comfortable and relaxed when it comes to bedtime. Also make sure he has plenty of liquids. Keeping the house and the room baby sleeps in at a comfortable temperature will also help, as he’s more likely to be fussy and restless if he’s too warm. Try to keep in mind that if your baby does become a bit restless in the night that the discomfort is only temporary, and he’s most likely to get right back on track with his sleeping and eating schedule soon.

To make the baby shower an event that is both memorable and enjoyable for guests as well as the hostess, getting timely planning, organization and budgeting done before-hand and sticking to the plan is very important to ensure the perfect party.
Typically, a baby shower is hosted by either a family member or even friends (with co-workers even pooling in to organize such an event these days) of the expectant mother to be an occasion where thoughtful gifts can be given in a mood of merry-making that will be useful for a new mother or baby. From discussing the theme of the baby shower to putting together a baby shower registry to making a guest list, menu, décor planning, arranging games and buying or making party favors, there’s no dearth of things to do the hostess will find herself overwhelmed by. This is why it is important to ensure party supplies do not take up too much time to source and buy and things run smoothly for the baby shower to be a real success.
An invitation for the baby shower can be hand-made or store-bought and filled in with requisite details including directions to a way-out venue, dress code if any and RSVP (regrets only) in order to plan the catering services, seating, favors and kinds of games to be organized. The theme for a baby shower party should relate to baby-kind of things such as nursery rhymes, teddy bears or color ideas such as dependant on the gender of the new baby (if known); party supplies are easily available online as well as in the local party goods store to suit various budgets.
Popular, must-haves at a baby shower party include brightly colored balloons, streamers, tinsel and cut-outs in different shapes and sizes besides popular cartoon character posters etc. which are easy to use for decorating the venue and are inexpensive too. At times, if an in-person shopping experience is not possible, the local store will home deliver it for you or you can choose to shop online and get the same facility, for free or at nominal cost.
What’s a baby shower party without a cake and some fun-games? So, remember to include these in the party supplies list besides disposable plates, cups and spoons that are in keeping with the theme and prizes and gift coupons to give away at the end! Bright colored and cute party-ware is now easily available in a variety of finishes, such as glass, plastic, melamine to paper and Styrofoam – choose one to suit your budget and baby shower needs.
The timing of the baby shower will determine the kind of menu and the games you can have i.e. a dinner party will require a sit down elaborate meal while a lunch or high tea can accommodate guest catering through appetizers, snacks, salads, finger foods and punch, fruit juices and perhaps wine.
Getting a baby gift registry in place is a smart way to prevent other guests from duplicating stuff for the expectant parents and save them from having bought a gift that goes unappreciated, too – so consider this element of planning the perfect baby shower and getting supplies.
You can always ask around in the friends and family circle for people to contribute and lend time or money in getting budget baby shower party supplies if there are too many items on the list or a special theme idea is to be catered to – or even consider a professional event organizer to do it all for you. Divide labor to multiply the fun at a perfect baby shower with these tips!

When it comes to babies, no one knows what the trend will be for their clothes. The mothers and fathers of the children today were the kids/teenagers of the 80’s generation punk rock/alternative era. Many chose to stay in the 1980s and not grow up. A Peter Pan condition seems to have hit. Many parents will dress their little Joeys or Siouxsies, which are matter of punk rock and biker attire. Many baby-clothing outlets love these types. They are intended to fashion even the most anarchistic and anti social parents proud to sport their child around, saying, “Isn’t my baby adorable in punk rock clothing.”
There are numerous specialty shops and online stores that offer these types of clothing. Most of them intended for just for babies and infants and designed in a tee-shirt format or one-piece suits. Listed below are some of the slogans used and can be found:
“Hung Like A 5-year old”
“If You Can Read This… THE BIB FELL OFF!” (UK oriented)
“Mom Knows A Lot, But Grandma Knows Everything.”
“If Mommy Says No, Ask Daddy”
“Little Punker” (UK oriented)
“It’s Not Going To Change Itself” – this is in reference to a diaper in need of changing. On the shirt, there is a picture of Stewie from Family Guy and he is his rear end out of his outfit, asking for a change. (It’s really cute!)
Most of the clothing’s color comes in the traditional blacks, reds and pinks used by punk rockers of yesterday and today. Some of these slogans can be found in the United Kingdom as well as in the United States. The ones seen in the UK can be found on the Internet and for those in the US, it is the same way.
A popular British baby outlet does very good. The name of it is called The Rally Shack. It has the “The Bib Fell Off” shirt in sizes 6 months, 18 months and 24 months. It does so well that one has to think that the punk rocker of the yesterdays saved up their money just to buy these outfits. This outfit, among many, many others retails around $18 US money and £10 UK cash. $18 bucks is a heavy price for an outfit that is going to have spit up and poop on it as well as be outgrown in no time. Yet, children need clothes and parents do have their styles too. There is a market for these types of outfits.
Listed below are two shops that do specialize in these outfits:
The Kids Window – Based out of the UK, the site offers the US, UK, European and other world versions and sells conventional and alternative baby clothing. Many clothing are offered including hoodies. Prices for the outfits range from £12 to £16.99 (approximately $22 to $31 US money).
Lucky L’il Devil – Based out of the US, the site offers everything any parent possibly will want to turn the baby into a little hoodlum under on roof. In addition to rock and pop culture enthused Tee shirts such as humors shirt readings along with the Betty Page and homage tees that are offered; they also sport apron dresses and leggings that accept images of situational events. One such tee shirt reads, “Daddy Drinks because I Cry.” The stores prices vary from $17 to $18 for t-shirts while the apron dresses are $34 to $36 and $17 for the leggings.
